Fashion Subcultures

Hey ! dolls what are your plans for this weekend ? if you are planning to party heres some fashion subculture which might help you bring a theme for your party and you might see a alot of freaky fashion everywhere

A subculture is a group of people within a culture that differentiates themselves from that larger they belong.

The way they dress is an amalgamation of years of experimenting with cloth and leather.
Here's a look at those past-time youth cultures that helped inspire the styles of today

1 NEW ROMANTIC/GLAM ROCK

All hail the eighties, where hair was big, bangles were bountiful and synthesizers rocked the air waves. The glam rockers were all about colored leggings and leg warmers , a la frame, Cyndi lauper and Paula Abdul ,where as the new romantics preferred a darker look ,complete with black denim ,make up for boys and shiney shoes like, The Artist Formerly  known as the prince.

2 GANSTA

The emergence of rap music saw throngs of young people's jeans get baggier and baggier , and bling increased so much its a wonder there arent more neck problems. The gangsta look is still going strong with clothing lines such a FUBU and Rocawear feeding the need to wear all things 'street' and icons such as 50 CENT  and JAY-Z carrying on the walk with a limp show off boxers plasters on the face look like it will never go out of fashion.

3HIPSTERS

There are two main type of hipsters. One group is a fashion subculture based around "irony" this means they will wear items just because they are outdated or "not cool" .The ironic pasrt is that,in this fashion subculture ,these "uncool" items are "cool".These type of fashionistas will wear vintage clothing that is out of style in order to stand out and make a statement.
The second type of hipster is associated with indie music. This look is more indie chic with large long scarves and flower patterns.Short skirts with boots and long, flowing locks are associated with this type os hipster.

4 TEDDY GIRLS

Teddy girls (also known as judies) wore drape jackets, pencil skirts , hobble skirts, long plaits, rolled up jeans, flat shoes, tailored jackets with velvet collars, starw boater hats, cameo brooches, coolie hats and long, elegant clutch bags.Later they adopted the American fashions of toreador pants, voluminouscircle skirts, and hair in ponytail.

"We werent bad girls. We were all right. We got slung out of the picture house for jiving up the aisles once, but we never broke the law. We werent drinkers. We'd go to milk bars, have a peach melba and nod to the music, but you weren't allowed to dance. It was just showing off: 'look at us'! We called the police 'the blue bottles' - you'd see them come round in a black maria to catch people playing dice on the corner. But we'd just sit on each others doorstep and play music" - Rose shine (teddy girl)

I find the teddy girl style beyond cool! I love the confident statement that the women that wore it were making. Austure but alluring and apealing, plus charisma factor

This is a moodboard made by me on teddy girls. The reason why i have made a mood board here is because i love teddy girl subcutlre. It inspires me (hope ypu like it ) :D

5 PUNK

Since the late 1970's punk rock music has influenced an entire genre of fashion.Punks took anarchy to a new level by using their clothes and bodies to show they were fighting the system.Punks often wear jean jackets with spikes and patches,as well as combat boots  and skinny jeans.Mohawks are common for punks,as well as brightly colored hair.Anything that screams attitude is a part of punk's attire, including chains

6 GOTHIC

6 GOTHIC

The goth subculture started during the early 1980s in the united kingdom as a gothic rock scene. This goth fashion could be termed as an offshoot genre of the post-punk subculture .Even though several such subcultures surfaced during that period the goth subculture had been the longest surving among them and had managed to even diversify and spread to other countires.
The goths have similar tastes in music, fashion and aesthetics though it could not be said that all the individuals with the same preferences are also goths since there is no particular definition of how to be a goth.

7 CLUB KID

Club Kids were known as those wacky downtown mischief makers — the men often seen bopping around in 4 inch platforms, baby doll dresses, full makeup and carrying signature lunchbox purses. Everyday was a performance piece and the clothes had to fit the part. “The outfits weren’t just outrageous, they were just sometimes disturbing,” Village Voice columnist Michael Musto said in the 1997 documentary Party Monster. “I mean, everything from oxygen masks to blood on the face and all these apocalyptic images. The aesthetic was one that was both embracing American capitalism and mocking it at the same time.” Beyond the costumes, the parties aimed to be equally shocking with headliners like The Pee Drinker, The Champagne Enema, The Dirty Mouth Contest, etc. In the same documentary, Michael Alig explains that what they were doing was perfect for the 1980s, because the decade was all about scams. They were building a reputation of being fabulous for no reason. They were naming trends that were fabulous for no reason. It was all very arbitrary, but numerous appearances on day time TV helped the movement trickle out to the flyover states. Kids in Omaha started up their own Club Kids scene, created their own stars and painted blue dots on their faces — all in Michael’s image.

These are some of my fav fashion subcultures.Hope you liked it :D
